Exhaust System Parts

An exhaust system is a tubing used to guide waste exhaust gases away from a controlled combustion inside an engine or stove. The entire system conveys burnt gases from the engine and includes one or more exhaust pipes. It must be designed carefully to carry out noxious gases away from users of the machine and may come in aluminized or stainless steel.

Here are the basic parts of an exhaust system and their functions:

1. Muffler - This device is designed to minimize the noise emitted by the engine.

2. Exhaust manifold - Through the manifold, the burned gases are carried off to the muffler which reduces the pressure of the gases and discharges them quietly through the tail pipe.

3. Tail pipe - This component ensures that exhaust gas is emitted past the end of the car's bodywork.

4. Exhaust pipe - It serves as chimney for the vehicle.
